How to do Ankle Circles
StandingFlowing movementBoth sidesBeginner
Ankle Circles is a standing flowing stretch for your calves, feet and shins. Do it on one side, then switch.
Step by step
- 1Stand with feet hip-width apart.
- 2Lift one foot slightly off the floor.
- 3Point your toes downward.
- 4Rotate your foot in a circular motion at the ankle.
- 5Complete several circles in one direction, then switch directions.
What you should feel
Let your ankle move in a soft, round path.
Form tips
- Engage your core for balance. Move slowly to maintain control. Keep your standing leg slightly bent.
- Keep your standing leg steady.
- Breathe easily as you circle.
Make it easier
If your ankle is sore, make the circles very small.
Coming out of it
Let the circles slow… and bring both feet together.
Muscles it works
Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
