How to do Front Leg Raise
StandingHoldBoth sidesBeginner
Front Leg Raise is a standing stretch for your abdomen, hips and quadriceps. Do it on one side, then switch.
Step by step
- 1Stand tall with your hands on your hips.
- 2Shift your weight onto your left foot.
- 3Then lift your right leg straight out in front of you, as high as feels comfortable.
What you should feel
Stay tall through your standing leg.
Form tips
- Torso upright, don't lean back. Keep the standing knee soft, not locked. Feel the hip flexor and quad holding the leg up.
- Feel the front of your right hip working.
- Lift only as high as feels comfortable.
Make it easier
Rest a hand on a wall or chair for balance.
Coming out of it
On your next exhale… slowly lower your leg down.
Muscles it works
Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
