How to do Split Squat Twists
StandingFlowing movementBoth sidesIntermediate
Split Squat Twists is a standing flowing stretch for your core, glutes and obliques. Do it on one side, then switch.
Step by step
- 1Stand tall with your hands together at your chest.
- 2Step your left foot back, and lower your left knee down toward the floor.
What you should feel
Let the twist come from your middle.
Form tips
- Hips square, rotate from the ribs. Front knee stays over the ankle. Exhale into the twist.
- Keep your right knee over your ankle.
- Breathe out as you turn.
Make it easier
If your knees are sensitive, keep the lunge shallow and the twist small.
Coming out of it
Step your feet together… and stand tall.
Muscles it works
Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
