How to do Peaceful Warrior

StandingHoldBoth sidesIntermediate

Peaceful Warrior is a standing stretch for your chest, hamstrings and hips. Do it on one side, then switch.

Step by step

  1. 1Step your right foot back into a wide stance and bend your left knee.
  2. 2Sweep both arms up then rest your right hand on your right leg as your left arm reaches up and back.

What you should feel

Feel the long line from your left fingertips to your left hip.

Form tips

  • Left knee stays over the left ankle. Sink the hips, reach the top arm long. Feel the left side stretch from hip to fingertips.
  • Let your gaze float up… if your neck is happy.
  • Rest your right hand lightly… no weight on it.

Make it easier

If your hips feel tight, shorten your stance and bend your knee less.

Coming out of it

On your next inhale… come up… and step your feet together.

Muscles it works

Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.

Do Peaceful Warrior with a coach

In BendEase, a voice coach talks you into Peaceful Warrior, cues you through the hold and tells you when to switch sides, while the guided video shows you exactly how. It's built into routines for your chest and hamstrings.
