How to do Warrior II
StandingHoldBoth sidesBeginner
Warrior II is a standing stretch for your chest, glutes and hamstrings. Do it on one side, then switch.
Step by step
- 1Stand tall, then step your right foot back into a lunge, left knee bent.
- 2Sweep your arms up then open your hips and arms out wide, and look over your left hand.
What you should feel
Feel your legs strong… and your chest open.
Form tips
- Press into the outer edge of the back foot. Arms level, reach in both directions. Torso stacked over the hips, don't lean forward.
- Let your shoulders soften as your arms reach.
- Breathe into the inside of your thighs.
Make it easier
If your knees are sensitive, shorten your stance and bend less.
Coming out of it
Straighten your left leg… lower your arms… and step your feet together.
Muscles it works
Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
