How to do Split Squats
StandingFlowing movementBoth sidesIntermediate
Split Squats is a standing flowing stretch for your calves, core and glutes. Do it on one side, then switch.
Step by step
- 1Stand tall and step your left foot back, so your right foot is in front.
- 2Bring your hands together at your chest, and get steady on both feet.
What you should feel
Keep your chest tall as you lower.
Form tips
- Torso upright, core braced. Front knee tracks over the toes. Push through the front heel to stand.
- Feel your right thigh and your seat working.
- Only go as low as feels comfortable.
Make it easier
If your knees are sensitive, keep the movement small.
Coming out of it
Rise all the way up… and step your feet together.
Muscles it works
Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
