How to do Curtsy Lunge Hold

StandingHoldBoth sidesIntermediate

Curtsy Lunge Hold is a standing stretch for your calves, hips and hamstrings. Do it on one side, then switch.

Step by step

  1. 1Stand with feet hip-width apart and arms at your sides.
  2. 2Step one foot diagonally behind you, crossing it behind your front leg.
  3. 3Bend both knees, lowering your hips until your front thigh is parallel to the floor.
  4. 4Keep your back knee just above the floor.
  5. 5Bring your arms in front of your chest and hold the position.

What you should feel

Keep your chest lifted and soft.

Form tips

  • Keep your chest lifted and back straight. Engage your glutes and inner thighs for stability.
  • Feel the outside of your left hip working.
  • Steady breath… steady legs.

Make it easier

If your knees need a gentler day, keep the lunge shallow.

Coming out of it

Press up gently… and step your feet back together.

Muscles it works

Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
