How to do Standing Lunge Twist

StandingHoldBoth sidesIntermediate

Standing Lunge Twist is a standing stretch for your chest, hips and lower back. Do it on one side, then switch.

Step by step

  1. 1Kneel tall, then step your right foot forward into a lunge.
  2. 2Left hand on the floor, turn your chest to the right, and reach your right arm up.
  3. 3Lift your back knee if that's okay.

What you should feel

Let the twist rise gently from your middle.

Form tips

  • Front knee stays over the ankle. Stack the top shoulder over the bottom one. Press through the back heel, lengthen the spine.
  • Feel the front of your left hip open.
  • Breathe into the space across your chest.

Make it easier

Keep your back knee on the floor if your hips need a gentler day.

Coming out of it

Bring your hand down… lower your back knee… and come back to kneeling.

Muscles it works

Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
