How to do Sumo Squat Hold

StandingHoldIntermediate

Sumo Squat Hold is a standing stretch for your calves, hips and hamstrings.

Step by step

  1. 1Stand with feet wide apart and toes pointing outward.
  2. 2Lower your hips back and down, as if sitting in a chair.
  3. 3Keep your weight on your heels, chest lifted, and back straight.
  4. 4Hold this position.

What you should feel

Let your knees open in line with your toes.

Form tips

  • Lower hips until thighs are parallel to the floor. Ensure knees align with toes.
  • Keep your chest soft and lifted.
  • Feel your legs working… and your hips opening.

Make it easier

Stay higher if your knees need a gentler day.

Coming out of it

On your next inhale… press up to standing… and step your feet in.

Muscles it works

Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
