How to do Standing Overhead Tricep
StandingHoldBoth sidesBeginner
Standing Overhead Tricep is a standing stretch for your chest, lats and lower back. Do it on one side, then switch.
Step by step
- 1Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart.
- 2Reach your right arm up overhead, then bend the elbow and let your right hand slide down your upper back.
- 3Hold your right elbow with your left hand.
What you should feel
Feel the back of your right arm slowly lengthen.
Form tips
- Guide the right elbow gently back. Ribs stay down, don't arch the lower back. Feel the stretch through the right tricep.
- Let your shoulders soften away from your ears.
- Breathe into the side of your body.
Make it easier
If your shoulder is tight, let your right hand rest on top of your head.
Coming out of it
Gently let go of your elbow… and float your arm down.
Muscles it works
Move slowly and stop if anything hurts. This is general guidance, not medical advice; check with a professional if you're injured or recovering.
